A trail race called Ultra-Trail Mogan runs on Moganshan under the UTMB World Series banner.
The mountain is in Deqing County, Huzhou prefecture, Zhejiang Province, China. The nearest big city is Hangzhou, 60 km south, and Shanghai is 200 to 240 km away. Check the name before you enter anything: there is a Moganshan Road 200 km from here, in Shanghai’s Putuo District, an art quarter that clutters these results.
The race, and where to get its numbers
Ultra-Trail Mogan runs under the UTMB World Series, the global circuit built around the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc race in France. Finishing one of its races earns Running Stones, the credits that feed the Mont-Blanc lottery, and how many depends on the distance you run.

Everything that decides whether you can enter comes from the organizer and only from the organizer:
- whether an edition is scheduled this year, and on what date
- the distances, elevation gain and cut-off times
- the entry fee and the registration window
- Running Stones earned per distance
- field size, and where the start and finish sit
Go to the UTMB World Series site and open the Ultra-Trail Mogan event page. Search the official domain rather than the race name, because aggregators outrank organizers for a small Asian event, and a distance or a cut-off taken from a third-party page is not worth having. Chinese events publish in Chinese first, and the English follows late and secondhand.
What the ground is actually like
The organizer has the course. What follows is the ground it runs over.
The high point is Tashan, at 719 to 720 meters. The 758 m you may see quoted is wrong. Nothing here is alpine. Nobody blows up on altitude, and a road is never far.
Over 92 percent of the mountain is forest, nearly all of it moso bamboo, a commercial crop cut for poles and dug for shoots. About 20 km² of that is the core scenic area, threaded by stone paths and steps laid from the 1890s to move summer families between villas.
Plan around the stone. Built steps punish legs in a way dirt does not, and wet stone is slick. Zhejiang summers are humid, and the heat breaks more runners here than the climbing.

Book a bed before you book anything else
The harder problem is not the running. Before anyone adds a race, this mountain is full at weekends.

That looks like plenty until a race weekend meets a holiday weekend.

The 18:00 problem
Take the train to Deqing. A station named Moganshan exists and does not serve the mountain: it is on another line, serving Wukang town. Deqing station has the detail.

Those hours decide when your race day can start and end.

A taxi is about RMB 100 and 30 minutes, and still cannot get you past a shut transfer center. Arrive after 18:00 the night before a race and you spend it solving a problem. Send your guesthouse the train number before you travel, not after.
Scenic-area tickets are charged, and published prices disagree.

Whether a race entry covers the gate is a question for the organizer, not the ticket office.
