The short version
Visit Moganshan makes money in two ways: commission on bookings made through links to Trip.com, and advertising sold to businesses on and around the mountain. You pay the same price you would pay going to Trip.com directly. Every paid item says it is paid, on the page, before you read it. Nobody buys a mention in an editorial page, nobody buys a position on this site, and no property has ever been given copy approval over a page about itself.
Who we work with
One booking partner, Trip.com. We are in their affiliate programme, which means a link from here carries an identifier that tells them the booking came from us. There is no second partner and no hotel that books through us directly. Any other commercial arrangement with a business on this mountain is an advertising one, and it is labelled wherever it appears.
Where a property has no bookable listing with that partner, we say so and send you to the property instead. A page here is not a shop window, and a place we rate is not left out because it pays nobody.
Advertising
Hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, attractions and operators can buy space on this site. There is no rate card and no fixed package: each arrangement is agreed one at a time and quoted in writing. Advertise with us sets out how that works and what it does not include, in public rather than in an email.
Every one of those is labelled as paid at the top of the item, where you see it before you read the copy rather than after. Editorial pages are not for sale: paying does not add a property to a page that names properties, does not move anything up a list, and does not remove a caveat. Corrections are free of all of it, and an advertiser gets a correction made against itself on the same terms as anyone else.
What a link does
Every commercial link on this site goes through a path beginning /go/, which redirects to the partner. The redirect exists so that a link can be counted, corrected or removed in one place instead of across a hundred pages. It sets no cookie of ours and it records nothing about you; what the partner does after that is covered by their own privacy policy, and by ours on the privacy page.
Those links are marked rel="sponsored" in the page source, which is how you tell a search engine that a link is commercial. Marking them costs us search value and we mark them anyway, because the alternative is lying to a crawler about the same thing we are being honest with you about.
What it does not buy
It does not buy a place on the site, an order in a list, a better description, or the removal of a criticism. Every property page carries one caveat, deliberately, and that caveat is written before the booking link is added rather than after. If we cannot think of an honest caveat for a place, we do not know it well enough to write about it yet.
We have not stayed at most of the properties bookable around this mountain, and we say so on each page rather than implying a visit we did not make.
Photographs and reviews
Photographs on property pages come from the property, from the partner's listing, or are representative illustrations produced for this site. Each image carries a credit saying which. We host every file ourselves rather than pulling it from someone else's server, which is partly a licensing matter and partly a practical one: hotlinked images fail from inside China, where a large share of readers are.
Guest comments are short excerpts, quoted as written, with the reviewer's handle as the source shows it, the date, and a link back to the review. They are not our words, we do not edit them for tone, and we do not pick only the flattering ones. Descriptions are written here from what we can verify, never pasted from a listing.
Ratings and scores
Where a page shows a review score, that score belongs to the platform it came from and is labelled as such. We do not publish a star rating of our own for a place we have not stayed at, and we do not republish someone else's aggregate score as structured data for search engines to treat as ours.
Telling us we are wrong
If a fact on a property page is out of date, if a caveat is unfair, or if you own a property and something here misrepresents it, write to us through the contact page. Corrections are free and do not require a commercial relationship. So is the right to have a page about your property say what is actually true of it.
