This page is for whoever is doing the booking. Three numbers decide whether Moganshan groups work: direct trains of 63 to 80 minutes from Shanghai Hongqiao and 13 to 17 from Hangzhou East, about 1,000 guesthouses with roughly 10,000 beds, and a quiet midweek because weekends and holidays take the demand.
The trains matter because of where you are sending people. Moganshan is in Deqing County, Huzhou prefecture, Zhejiang Province, 60 km north of Hangzhou, with Shanghai 200 to 240 km away. The Moganshan that ranks first in search is a Shanghai art district, in Putuo. Send forty people there and you lose a day.

The service count matters more than the headline time. Thirteen direct departures out of Hongqiao means thirty people need not travel as one block. Put half on a later train and the two who cannot leave the office by eleven stop being a problem.
From Hangzhou the ride is shorter than a cross-town taxi, so a team there runs a one-night offsite without losing a day.
Now the money. Sector occupancy averaged about 55 percent in 2024, and that average contains full weekends and sold-out holidays, so an ordinary Tuesday sits well below. Mondays are quiet.
One line of the booking instruction must be right: the station is Deqing. A Moganshan station exists on another line, serving Wukang town.
How many houses? Count in tens
Getting there is the easy half. Roughly 10,000 beds across about 1,000 properties averages ten beds a property, the most useful number here. About 80 percent are individually owned, so forty beds on one contract is unusual. Where to stay has the villages.

naked Stables has about 121 keys, naked Castle about 95, Le Passage Mohkan Shan about 28, and the Crowne Plaza Deqing Moganshan about 340 down in Wukang. Only two could hold sixty in one place, and the largest is off the mountain. Those are room counts rather than event capacities, so ask each property what its largest room seats before you count on it.
Trip.com took 67.04 percent of Dalezhiye in March 2025: 28 properties, 556 rooms at about RMB 1,300 a night. Where a group needs three houses, one counterparty may hold all three.

Offsites, weddings and reunions are not the same booking
The job changes with the occasion, not the headcount.

Four rules that break a group plan
No private vehicle goes past the scenic-area line
Groups change transport at Yucun, Fatou or Houwu, the three transfer centers, open 08:00 to 18:00.
Work backward from that 18:00 close. A train into Deqing at 13:21 leaves a usable afternoon after the 30 to 40 minute run up. One arriving at 18:42 does not. A coach pulling in at 19:00 is not an inconvenience. It is a failed arrival.
The 08:00 open decides your last morning. Nothing moves before it, so an early train out of Deqing will not work.

Some villages sit outside the boundary, so it bites unevenly. Getting around covers that.
Forty people will sleep in four houses
That is the ten-bed average at work. No property owns your group, so four houses means four breakfasts on four schedules. Nominate one owner as lead, with somebody from your side in each house. Keep them in one village: Houwu is 30 minutes from Yucun, too far to shuttle forty people twice daily.
Send every shortlisted property six questions:
- Headcount, and how many rooms
- Arrival time, against the 18:00 close
- Which side of the ticketed boundary
- Dinner on night one, and when
- Breakfast times, in writing
- Whether they register foreign passports
The evening is something you build
Chinese trade reporting returns to one gap. These villages run no evening economy. No night market, almost nothing selling food late. Yucun alone has a square, a market and restaurants around it.
That is a budget line, under catering. Take half board where offered, and the rate covers breakfast and dinner.

Do the arithmetic before asking for a quote. Forty people is about twenty rooms.

Those are the bands multiplied out, current at 5 August 2026. That is arithmetic, not a quote. Group travel to Moganshan is priced by the calendar, and sources conflict, so treat every figure as a band.
Easy advice to give, harder to take. A wedding date does not move for a rate card. If yours is fixed, book early and budget the peak.

What the mountain gives you
The program itself is straightforward. Over 92 percent is forest, mostly moso bamboo, and Laoling has the reservoir and the bikes.
The 1984 Moganshan Conference, a gathering of reform economists, sat in the assembly hall here, so this has been done before.
