The event nearest the mountain is at Mogan Yujie (莫干·庾街), a street quarter inside the Yucun (庾村) scenic area, in the village where one of the three transfer centres stands. The county portal dates its opening to May 2024. Its autumn festival runs from 25 to 27 September, then again from 1 to 7 October. Expect a market of autumn produce, with bamboo weaving, kesi silk tapestry (缂丝) and clay figure making among the crafts. An exhibition brings stories of nature and people from the Qinling mountains of central China. At dusk there is a concert of contemporary folk and world music. No concert times are given, and nothing says whether any of it is ticketed.

Chestnut picking is on at no fewer than four hotels and guesthouses (民宿, the family run rooms that fill the Moganshan villages): Mengye Migong (梦也·弥宫), Jingmi Shanju (莫干山静谧山居), the Xiangyuehu resort (象月湖国际休闲度假谷) and Jun'anli (郡安里). Two of them were already in our chestnut item from the villages of Moganshan town. For Mid Autumn itself, Mogan Shanjutu (莫干山居图) and Jiangnan Yaowu (江南瑶坞) are putting on moon viewing. Whether people who are not staying can join is left unsaid.

Further out, the programme covers the rest of the county. Xiazhu Lake wetland park (下渚湖湿地公园) takes boats through its reed channels over National Day, with egrets and crested ibis on the bird island. At the Xinshi old town (新市古镇) there is street dance every day and a market of more than 30 stalls. A different evening show takes over its water stage from 3 October.

All of this rests on the county paper. The county portal confirms where Mogan Yujie is, but its news listings would not load from here, so the programme itself has not been checked against an official notice. Nothing in it changes how you get onto the mountain: private cars still stop at the transfer centres. The crowd calendar on our National Day page still stands, and it puts the heaviest traffic between 2 and 5 October.

What this means for a visitor: If you are staying at Moganshan over either holiday, the Yucun festival evenings are the nearest thing on the programme, and chestnut picking is worth asking your host about before you arrive.

Deqing, the county Moganshan sits in, spent the week fitting out a railway nobody can ride yet. On the morning of 18 September, workers were installing green wayfinding boards on Quyuan Road (曲园路) in Wukang (武康街道), the county town. They point to the entrances of a line the signs call a metro, although it is branded a suburban railway. One worker had put up ten boards before lunch. Chunhui Park station (春晖公园站) is getting 76 sign positions in all, on the main roads, the side streets, the crossings and the housing around it.

Three days later the same paper reported that the shopping centre on top of that station opens first. Six tenants open at Chunxu Commercial Centre (春序商业中心) on 24 September, among them a Hema discount supermarket, a dumpling shop, a Yunnan noodle shop and a 7-Eleven. The operator said the aim was to keep pace with the railway. Neither report gives a date for the railway. Both say only that the opening is close, which the county has been saying since the line began trial running on 2 September.

What this means for a visitor: nothing yet. Until a date is published, Deqing station on the existing high speed line is still the way in. The new station is a different place in Wukang, not a second entrance to the one you use now. Anyone booking for October should assume the railway will not be running.

Two new places to stop have opened at Qinlao village

Qinlao village (勤劳村), on the Moganshan town road, has guesthouses and until recently very little else. A rural operating team calling itself the Bee Tribe (蜜蜂部落), average age in its twenties, took on the village's idle buildings last year. Long Talk (长谭) came out of a derelict horse paddock and now sells coffee and light lunches to cyclists and walkers. Beimoting (杯莫亭) opened this year beside the Jingxiantan (惊险潭) waterfall, a tea room with a wine counter and a stage, and a walkway out to a view. The village expects about RMB 200,000 a year from it. Neither report gives an opening time or a price. The third project is further off. A silk mill that stood empty for ten years is becoming a 3,000 square metre car showroom and restaurant, with the fitting out unfinished.

What this means for a visitor: two places to stop on that road that were not there a year ago, both outside the ticketed scenic area. The silk mill is a building site, so do not go for that one. A second phase, a farm of about 170 mu, has not started.

Moganshan Yellow Bud is being made as a yellow tea again

Moganshan Yellow Bud (莫干黄芽) is classed as a yellow tea, and most of what is sold under the name has been made as a green one. The difference is a step called menhuang (闷黄), a smothering that runs for tens of hours under tight control of temperature and humidity. It is the reason yellow tea is rare. A workstation from the Tea Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (中国农业科学院茶叶研究所) opened in Moganshan town in early summer, with a yellow tea school. Growers have extended picking past Guyu (谷雨) in late April, instead of stopping before Qingming. Two tea farms, Shiyi (石颐) and Shuangfeng (双丰), have doubled output and sales over three years. Four yellow teas beyond the single bud are now sold, among them Zhichun (知春) and Qiubai (秋白).

What this means for a visitor: the name on the tin does not tell you how the tea was made. If you are buying tea on the mountain, ask whether it was yellowed. Our own page on Moganshan tea treated the pick as a spring crop that coarsens after about 20 April, and has been corrected today.

The autumn street people are driving to is a working road

Yangshuwan Road (杨树湾路) runs through Wukang, the same county town. It is lined with golden rain trees (栾树), which carry yellow flowers and red seed capsules on the branch at once. The road was at its best on 18 September, with people driving in from outside the county after seeing it on social media, some bringing photographers and stepladders. The viewing period runs close to a month, which from 18 September points at the first half of October. The subdistrict asked people to mind the traffic while they look up.

What this means for a visitor: ten minutes and no ticket, if you have time to fill near the station rather than on the mountain. Cars use it. Do not stand about in the road for a photograph. On the mountain itself the osmanthus is already out and the chestnut picking runs to about 15 October.

What Deqing has published about the holiday is a security meeting

So far it is all internal. The county political and legal affairs committee met on 21 September to set the Mid Autumn and National Day security arrangements. The report names no road, no closure, no hour. No visitor programme for Moganshan had appeared by 23 September, anywhere we can reach. The county usually publishes one seven to ten days out, so it may yet land. Two other things people ask about are just as unsettled. The quarry attraction at the Kaiyuan Senbo resort is due to start trial running in October, with no opening day published. The restored 1910 swimming pool at the top of the mountain is open as a café on trial, with no hours and no prices published.

What this means for a visitor: do not build a National Day itinerary around the holiday programme, the quarry or the pool. What is confirmed for the holiday is on our National Day page, and if a programme appears it will be in next week's dispatch.

If you are planning National Day, no Golden Week programme for Moganshan has been published with a week to go, and the Hangzhou to Deqing railway still has no opening date, so plan on arriving at Deqing station exactly as you would have done in the spring.

The pool and the old building beside it had both been sealed up for years. They have opened together, on a trial opening (试营业), which here means the place is serving customers but has not formally launched.

The Moganshan Administration (莫干山管理局), which also trades as the mountain's culture and tourism group, did the restoration this year. It piped mountain spring water back into the pool so the water moves rather than stands, and brought in the team behind Bund No. 5 (外滩5号) in Shanghai to run the site as a café in the old building, with seating at the poolside. A reporter who went found clear water, coffee, kiln baked bread and visitors sitting at the edge. Staff said they had deliberately left the marks of age on the fabric, and had positioned some of the furnishings by reference to old photographs.

On the date, two sources agree. The administration's surviving records, quoted by the county paper, put the pool at 1910 and call it the earliest public swimming pool in Zhejiang, used for competitions at the time. Shanghai Observer (上观新闻) dated an outdoor standard pool on Moganshan to the same year, in a piece from January 2025. The claim that it was the first in the province rests on the administration's own archive and nothing beside it. The 1910 date is also earlier than the usual account of this mountain, including our own, which dates the spread of public pools here to the 1930s.

The report leaves out most of what you would want before setting out. There are no opening hours, no prices, no day the trial began, and nothing on whether anyone may swim. Dianping, the usual check that a place is really trading, answered with a verification wall.

The pool is inside the ticketed scenic area, so reaching it costs the price of admission. Three OR cafés opened lower down the mountain earlier this month.

What this means for a visitor: If you are already paying to enter the scenic area there is now somewhere to sit at the top, but the hours are not published, the prices are not published, and a trial opening can close again without notice.

Deqing News (德清新闻网) reported on 18 September that a reporter at Luhuadang Park (芦花荡公园), inside the scenic area, found the trees along both sides of the path in full flower that morning, the scent carrying in waves, with visitors stopping to photograph them.

The paper puts more than seven hundred osmanthus trees (桂花) on the mountain, across golden, silver and four season varieties, and gives the main flush as mid September to early November. It names two places to go for it: Luhuadang Park and Sword Pool (剑池).

The reason the mountain runs ahead is temperature. Osmanthus needs a spell of cold before it will open, and the mountain is high enough that the nights turn cold there first. Our own weather page puts the mountain at 719 to 720 metres and 6 to 7 °C under Shanghai and Hangzhou in summer. No published figure covers September on the mountain.

This rests on a single source, the county paper, at tier 2. The tree count and the flowering window are its figures rather than a bureau's, and no county portal check was possible: deqing.gov.cn timed out on every listing from here. The town weather page at 中国天气网, the usual temperature check, returned a 403.

The practical caution is a different one. Both of the places the paper names sit inside the ticketed scenic area, so the scent costs the price of admission, and what that price is depends on which source you read. A flowering window running into November also means this is not a weekend to chase. If the first week of October is the only week you can travel, the crowds will be the thing you notice, not the trees.

What this means for a visitor: If the scent is what you are coming for, you have weeks rather than a single weekend, and the two places the county paper names are both inside the ticketed scenic area.

The grove the paper visited sits deep in Gaofeng village (高峰村), where the trees are roughly seventy years old. Zhou Xudong (周旭东) leased it from the village in 2024, left the trees as he found them, added a reading area and some landscaping, and runs a cafe called Lilin (栗林咖啡) among them. He gave the paper the mid October end date, and said weekend footfall peaks at around 400 people a day, most of it from Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang. The grove covers about thirty mu, two hectares.

It is not one site but a scatter of them. Further down the hill road, the riding centre at Mengye Fairytale Horse Valley (梦也童话·马儿谷) opens its chestnut slopes to riders and to guests of the guesthouse attached to it, and has put chestnut chicken on the kitchen's menu. Its founder said bookings for the two holidays are already in. At Fangcunwu in Hecun village (何村村方村坞) a cafe stands among the tea terraces, and anyone who buys a drink walks into the grove beside it at no charge. Xiangyuehu (象月湖国际休闲度假谷) runs the picking as a guided session, with an outdoor instructor taking families in. Two more guesthouses, Guiyu Shanju (归欤山居) and Jingmi Shanju (静谧山居), have chestnut trees in a courtyard and chestnut woods on the slopes around them.

None of this is a public arrangement, which is the part to understand before going. The paper names private businesses. No price, opening time or booking number appears anywhere in the report, and no grove in it is a ticketed attraction: what each place sells is a coffee, a bed or a riding lesson, with the picking attached. That also makes it one of the few autumn things here that costs nothing extra once you have arrived.

The timing is the awkward part. The picking window covers the Mid-Autumn holiday from 25 September and then the National Day holiday from 1 October, the two busiest stretches of the Moganshan autumn.

What this means for a visitor: If you are on the mountain between now and the middle of October, chestnut picking is a cheap half day that needs no scenic area ticket. The same weeks are the busiest of the autumn, so book a guesthouse table rather than turning up for lunch.

Hangzhou.com.cn (杭州网) published a longer account the same day. Its reporter saw the site on 11 September, with a theatre shaped like a cowboy hat and a zero gravity docking tower taking shape, and quoted the project manager, Song Taowei (宋涛伟), saying the pit will become the resort's third main play area once it is in use. Two other things are listed as in progress nearby, neither of them dated: a mountain water park at Qihuan Valley (奇幻谷), and an interactive animal park at Tianji Sengu (莫干山天际森谷山野乐园) built on an investment of RMB 8 million.

The name needs a correction. The resort is branded Moganshan but stands in Xiazhu Lake subdistrict (下渚湖街道), on the lowland by the wetland rather than on the mountain, so reaching it from the guesthouse villages means a drive. Nor is converting the quarry one company's idea. Hangzhou.com.cn frames it as a piece of a subdistrict programme to find new uses for sites that were earning little, and lists the pit alongside a matcha outlet and a kiln bakery brought into the same resort.

Announced, not open

October is the developer's month. No day, no price and no booking page has been published, and an opening is reported here when a platform shows the thing trading, not when a plan is announced.

The Hangzhou report also carries visitor and revenue figures for the four scenic areas of the subdistrict over the first eight months of the year. Those are the subdistrict's own numbers rather than a statistics bureau's, so they are not repeated here as a count.

What this means for a visitor: Nothing is bookable and no opening day has been published, so do not build an October trip around it. If you are already booked into the resort with children, ask at the desk whether the pit is running before you pay for anything extra.

The old street at Fatou (筏头老街), the settlement that gives the Fatou transfer centre its name, has been rebuilt as Mogan Lake Country Park (莫干湖郊野公园). Deqing News reported on 16 September that the civil works are finished and that the buildings, a cycling station, a ruins garden and an ecology exhibition hall, are in their final stage. The site covers about 48,000 square metres and the county expects it to open in October. It sits inside a drinking water protection zone, which is why the old street became a park rather than anything with beds in it.

What this means for a visitor: from October there should be a free public park with paths and viewpoints beside a transfer centre that has until now been somewhere to leave a car and wait for a bus.

A farm park at Laoling is open, and also not open

A site of about 200 mu at Laoling (劳岭村), roughly 13 hectares, has become Luhe Village (麓禾村), built out of an existing fruit picking farm by a young team from Hangzhou. Deqing News listed a pedal train, off road karting, kayaks, catering, camping, farm work sessions and eight themed courtyards. The same report says in its first line that the park has formally opened to the public and then quotes the operator saying it has not formally opened for business, so treat it as trading but unfinished. She expects 100,000 visitors a year once it is running, and said the team is planning around the Hangzhou to Deqing rail line, which began trial running on 2 September.

What this means for a visitor: Laoling sits on the road to the western guesthouse villages and on one of the two themed bus lines, so a family half day now exists there that did not in the spring. Ring ahead before you build a day around it.

The ninth Moganshan Conference is in its final run up

The task force preparing the ninth Moganshan Conference (莫干山会议) met on 14 September and was told that preparation has entered its sprint stage. The conference descends from the 1984 meeting that put the mountain into Chinese economic history. The report named the officials in the room and gave no date, no venue and no programme.

What this means for a visitor: when the date does land, beds across the county tighten for several days around it. If your trip falls in late September or October, book the room before the announcement rather than after.

A restored walk at Jichoushan is finished, away from the mountain

At Shangyang (上杨村), in Xiazhuhu (下渚湖) rather than on Moganshan, the main works are done on a walking route around Jichoushan (计筹山). Deqing News put it at 520 metres of restored old path and more than 400 metres of new connecting path, about one kilometre in all, for more than RMB 2 million. It links a Yuan dynasty cliff inscription cut by Zhao Mengfu, the Baishi Dongtian site associated with the Song poet Jiang Kui, a Taoist hall and a flat stone long used as a chessboard.

What this means for a visitor: about a kilometre of restored path, with a signed entrance, for anyone who has already done the walking on Moganshan and wants somewhere with fewer people on it. No opening date was given.

The county recovered RMB 61,000 from an agency that stopped answering

The enforcement team at the county culture, radio, television, tourism and sport bureau has recovered RMB 61,000 of the more than RMB 80,000 taken by a travel agency that went quiet. Deqing News reported on 16 September that the company registered in January, ran a few tours, then deregistered in March. More than 60 customers, most of them elderly, had paid by personal WeChat transfer rather than into a company account, and the agency's mandatory service quality deposit could not be used to cover them.

What this means for a visitor: if you book anything through a Chinese agency, pay into the company account, ask to see the travel agency operating licence as well as the business licence, and keep the written contract. A personal transfer leaves almost nothing to recover.

What this means for a visitor: Nothing changed this week that alters a trip you have already booked. The one item to act on is the enforcement case: if you pay a Chinese travel agency, pay into its company account rather than a personal WeChat, and ask to see the travel agency licence as well as the business licence.

The page lists adult distances of 10 km, 20 km, 30 km, 50 km, 70 km and 100 km, plus a youth 10 km category. It also gives different experience requirements for the longer courses. Those details confirm a full race weekend rather than a single short trail start.

The listing does not publish a start map, spectator plan or road restrictions. Those operational notices usually appear closer to the race and need an organiser or police source before they can be treated as fact. Registration being closed also means the page should not be read as an invitation to buy a late place through an unofficial seller.

For a visitor who is not already entered, the useful fact is the weekend. A large multi distance trail event can put pressure on village rooms, pickups and the narrow roads around trail access points. Anyone booking Moganshan for 23 to 25 October should ask the property where runners will gather and how its pickup will operate once the official traffic notice appears.

What this means for a visitor: A visitor can no longer enter through the organiser's page, and anyone booking the same weekend should allow for a large trail event before choosing a village or transport plan.

There is one division. The stated route is 22.65 km with 1,379 metres of climbing. Runners have six hours, with the course closing at 13:30. The page describes it as a training event for runners attempting their first 100 km trail race rather than a mass programme with several distances.

Entry costs RMB 218 until 10:00 on 15 September, then RMB 258. The platform says registration can close as soon as places are filled, so the later price is not a guarantee that entries will remain available. Zuicool is the selling platform and is authoritative for the date, entry status and fee.

The event page bills it as a National Day holiday race. It does not publish a road closure notice or a spectator plan. A visitor entering the race can save RMB 40 by acting before the early rate ends. Anyone staying around Yucun should expect the square to be busy before the 07:30 start, but should wait for a police or organiser notice before assuming any road will close.

What this means for a visitor: A visitor who wants to run can enter now and save RMB 40 before the early rate ends, while other visitors should expect Yucun Square to be busy early on 6 October.

The tournament will be held at the three on three basketball arena in Deqing Geographic Information Town (德清地理信息小镇). Deqing News says 14 teams and 56 players are due to compete. The published field includes the Serbian team Ub, the 2025 World Tour champion, and the host team from Deqing.

The county has tied the event to a ticket stub offer. Spectators will be able to show the stub for offers at Deqing Intime City and at four visitor areas: Xinshi Ancient Town, the Xiazhu Lake wetland park, Xiazhu Lake Fantasy Valley and the Moganshan International Tourism Resort. Hotel and restaurant offers are also promised. The report does not give the value, conditions or expiry of any offer, so those details need checking in the ticket channel before a booking is made.

Deqing News says tickets are available through the official booking channel, but its article does not link to that channel or publish a price. A visitor who wants to attend can now book the tournament and use the stub locally, but should confirm the exact offer attached to the selected ticket before planning the rest of the trip.

What this means for a visitor: A visitor can now book the tournament and use the same ticket stub for local offers, but should check the booking channel for the exact benefits before planning around them.

The founders are three people from Shanghai who have each spent about a decade on the mountain: one runs outdoor camps and the Xiangye She (乡野社) outdoor space, one runs three guesthouses, and one comes from hotel restaurants. The name, they told the paper, means "another option" for a visitor who has a bed and a walk and nowhere to sit down. The Nanlu shop sells villagers' farm produce without charging them, and the Yujie shop sits near the race venues and is pitched at event weekends.

The county paper says all three open in September. It does not give a day, and this site has not confirmed any of them trading on a review or booking platform, which is the test it applies to every opening. The second OR branch, unusually, is going the other way, to the Huangpu riverside in Shanghai, with its fit out mostly done.

Why it is worth a line

Moganshan's problem for a visitor without a car has never been beds. It is what to do between meals in a village with one lane, and the shortage of places to sit that are not somebody else's guesthouse. Three cafés at three heights on the mountain is a small change. It is also the first new reason in a while to leave the guesthouse after lunch. What a minsu is explains why the guesthouse is usually the only option.

What this means for a visitor: A visitor staying in the villages gets somewhere to sit with a coffee that is not the guesthouse, at three points on the mountain. Check the shops are trading before walking up to the Tianquan site, which is the one with no street around it.

The site is the former Discovery adventure park (Discovery探索极限主题公园), which had been standing idle. Five activities are listed: hiking trails, a high rope net course, a 100 metre children's obstacle course, DEKA fitness training and a climbing wall. The owner's representative told the paper the base would be the largest of its kind in eastern China and would open in October; that is the only date given, with no day and no price.

The same report confirms the Spartan Race (斯巴达勇士赛) and its children's race return to the Moganshan resort in November 2026, the third year of the event here. Last year's race weekend brought more than 2,000 families and 4,000 participants to the resort, by the county's count. There is no independent figure, so this site reports it as the organiser's number.

Announced, not open

An opening on this site is reported as such only when a booking platform shows it taking guests, and that is not yet the case. The base has been a standing watch item here since it was announced for the fourth quarter of 2026; this is the first report to put a month on it, and it is the developer's month rather than a confirmed date.

What this means for a visitor: Nothing is bookable yet, and a visitor should not plan an October trip around it until a date and a ticket page appear. The November race weekend is the one to plan around: last year it brought more than 4,000 participants, and rooms near the resort will be tight.

The line runs 25.6 km from Renhe North in Yuhang, on the northern edge of Hangzhou, to Deqing high speed rail station, with nine stations. It is built to run through onto Hangzhou Metro Line 10, so a passenger boards in the city and gets off at Deqing station without changing trains or buying a ticket in advance: the fare is paid by tapping a card or a phone code, as on the metro. Hangzhou Release (杭州发布), the municipal government's own account, put the journey from Huanglong in central Hangzhou to Deqing's main urban area at about 40 minutes, and Hangzhou Daily gave the same figure from some Deqing stations. Trains are rated for 120 km/h.

Both reports are promotional in tone. The 40 minute figure is a projection, not a timetable, and neither piece gives an opening date more precise than the end of the year. This site has watched the line since it was announced. It is the largest change to access since Deqing station opened in 2013, and this is the first report of trains moving on it.

What it does not change

The line ends at Deqing station, which is where the trains from Shanghai already arrive. The last leg from the station to the transfer centre and up the mountain, by taxi, bus or a guesthouse pickup, is not part of this project, and that leg is the one most visitors find hardest. Getting here from Hangzhou will be rewritten when an opening date and a fare are published.

What this means for a visitor: Nothing changes for a trip this autumn. From the opening, a visitor in Hangzhou will reach Deqing station by metro, tap in and out, no ticket to book, and the last leg from the station to the mountain stays as it is.

Published advice lags. Some of it still routes British and Canadian readers into a visa application nobody needs. The visa free entry page has every country and the date each was added.

The scheme has an end date

The unilateral regime is written only to 31 December 2026, and as of August 2026 no extension had been announced. Anyone travelling before that date needs no action; the rules above apply as written. Anyone planning for 2027 or later should check again before booking anything non refundable. Nothing has been legislated past that date, so this page says nothing about 2027.

What this means for a visitor: With a British or Canadian passport, the trip needs a ticket and nothing else. American passports are not on the list at any date and take the 240 hour transit route instead.

Then read the developer's name twice. Zhejiang Shangyin Cultural Tourism Development Co. sits under the Deqing County Cultural and Tourism Development Group, so the county government's own development arm is on the other side of the deal.

What this means for a visitor: Nothing is bookable. 2030 is four years out, no construction has started, and dates that far ahead move, so a visitor plans around the hotels that exist today.

Moganshan's beds are otherwise small and local. About 80 percent of the area's guesthouses have a single owner, and Moganshan Town counted about 1,000 of them by September 2025. Twenty eight under one platform is a different animal.

Where to stay has the price bands. Trip.com is also this site's affiliate partner, which is why the deal is reported here for what it changes and not for the deal itself.

What this means for a visitor: More of what you book may belong to one company. At about RMB 1,300 a night those rooms sit near the top of this market, where the high end line is RMB 1,500.

It did not change the trip most visitors take.

New line, new station, wrong mountain: the stop that carries the name Moganshan on other lines is nowhere near it either. Shanghai to Moganshan has the timings and the last mile.

What this means for a visitor: Probably not your train. Book Deqing on the Nanjing to Hangzhou line, 63 to 80 minutes from Hongqiao; Huzhou station is farther from the mountain than Deqing is.

All of it rests on one condition, a confirmed ticket onward to a third country. A round trip home does not qualify.

The transit rule changed twice in thirteen months. It is the entry rule most likely to move again, and the visa free entry page is where the current version lives.

What this means for a visitor: On a US passport this is the route in, short of a visa. Shanghai and Zhejiang are both covered, so Shanghai to Hangzhou to Moganshan stays inside the scheme, provided you hold a confirmed onward ticket to a third country.

The change is dated to the month rather than the day because the announcement and the rule's effect were reported on different dates; this entry uses the month both agree on. The country list itself has moved several times since, most recently on 17 February 2026 when Canada and the United Kingdom were added. The visa free entry page carries the list as it stands.

What this means for a visitor: Two nights out here used to cost you two nights in Shanghai. On a 30 day stay that trade is gone, and a visitor can add Moganshan to a China trip without dropping something else.

Refusals are still reported. Two years on, the directive has not settled it on the ground, and the smaller the property the less likely it is to have heard of it.

What this means for a visitor: Ask before you pay, and get it in writing. This mountain runs on minsu (民宿), small family run guesthouses, so put the question to the property rather than assuming the directive reached it.
