Deqing News (德清新闻网) reported on 16 September 2026 that construction is running to schedule at the Interstellar Mine Pit (星际矿坑), an attraction being built inside a disused quarry at the Kaiyuan Senbo resort (莫干山开元森泊度假乐园). The county paper ran a photograph and four lines of caption. They say the site uses the quarry’s own rock faces for a space exploration theme, that it will carry aerial rides, photo points and interactive attractions, and that trial running is expected in October this year. October is the only date given.
Hangzhou.com.cn (杭州网) published a longer account the same day. Its reporter saw the site on 11 September, with a theatre shaped like a cowboy hat and a zero gravity docking tower taking shape, and quoted the project manager, Song Taowei (宋涛伟), saying the pit will become the resort’s third main play area once it is in use. Two other things are listed as in progress nearby, neither of them dated: a mountain water park at Qihuan Valley (奇幻谷), and an interactive animal park at Tianji Sengu (莫干山天际森谷山野乐园) built on an investment of RMB 8 million.
The name needs a correction. The resort is branded Moganshan but stands in Xiazhu Lake subdistrict (下渚湖街道), on the lowland by the wetland rather than on the mountain, so reaching it from the guesthouse villages means a drive. Nor is converting the quarry one company’s idea. Hangzhou.com.cn frames it as a piece of a subdistrict programme to find new uses for sites that were earning little, and lists the pit alongside a matcha outlet and a kiln bakery brought into the same resort.
Announced, not open
October is the developer’s month. No day, no price and no booking page has been published, and an opening is reported here when a platform shows the thing trading, not when a plan is announced.
The Hangzhou report also carries visitor and revenue figures for the four scenic areas of the subdistrict over the first eight months of the year. Those are the subdistrict’s own numbers rather than a statistics bureau’s, so they are not repeated here as a count.
What this means for a visitor: Nothing is bookable and no opening day has been published, so do not build an October trip around it. If you are already booked into the resort with children, ask at the desk whether the pit is running before you pay for anything extra.
