Deqing has published its programme for Mid Autumn and National Day. Deqing News (德清新闻网) set it out on 24 September, a day after our week 39 dispatch had searched for one and found nothing.
The event nearest the mountain is at Mogan Yujie (莫干·庾街), a street quarter inside the Yucun (庾村) scenic area, in the village where one of the three transfer centres stands. The county portal dates its opening to May 2024. Its autumn festival runs from 25 to 27 September, then again from 1 to 7 October. Expect a market of autumn produce, with bamboo weaving, kesi silk tapestry (缂丝) and clay figure making among the crafts. An exhibition brings stories of nature and people from the Qinling mountains of central China. At dusk there is a concert of contemporary folk and world music. No concert times are given, and nothing says whether any of it is ticketed.
Chestnut picking is on at no fewer than four hotels and guesthouses (民宿, the family run rooms that fill the Moganshan villages): Mengye Migong (梦也·弥宫), Jingmi Shanju (莫干山静谧山居), the Xiangyuehu resort (象月湖国际休闲度假谷) and Jun’anli (郡安里). Two of them were already in our chestnut item from the villages of Moganshan town. For Mid Autumn itself, Mogan Shanjutu (莫干山居图) and Jiangnan Yaowu (江南瑶坞) are putting on moon viewing. Whether people who are not staying can join is left unsaid.
Further out, the programme covers the rest of the county. Xiazhu Lake wetland park (下渚湖湿地公园) takes boats through its reed channels over National Day, with egrets and crested ibis on the bird island. At the Xinshi old town (新市古镇) there is street dance every day and a market of more than 30 stalls. A different evening show takes over its water stage from 3 October.
All of this rests on the county paper. The county portal confirms where Mogan Yujie is, but its news listings would not load from here, so the programme itself has not been checked against an official notice. Nothing in it changes how you get onto the mountain: private cars still stop at the transfer centres. The crowd calendar on our National Day page still stands, and it puts the heaviest traffic between 2 and 5 October.
What this means for a visitor: If you are staying at Moganshan over either holiday, the Yucun festival evenings are the nearest thing on the programme, and chestnut picking is worth asking your host about before you arrive.
