Easy to find and easy to park at, with plenty of restaurants nearby. The Laoling old road starts a short walk behind the house, and Yucun square is four minutes by car. The little garden is beautifully kept and sitting in the courtyard doing nothing is a pleasure. Clean tidy room and good water pressure in the shower. The owners are welcoming, and they boiled eggs for me first thing so I could go and run the mountain.

A hidden gem of a courtyard in the Moganshan bamboo, exactly the mountain life you picture. You drive in along a lane with green bamboo either side, push the gate open and everything goes quiet. The room was clean and fresh with the hills in the window, birdsong woke us, and opening it there was green everywhere and bamboo in the air. The couple who run it are thoroughly decent, and all three meals are proper country cooking. The dried shoot and chicken soup was so good I had two bowls, and their own greens were sweet and crisp in a way you cannot get in a city. Tea and idleness in the courtyard, or cards and karaoke with friends, the pace just right. Very good value, and a perfect two days to empty your head. I would pick it again.

The house is not especially obvious but the sign at the gate is. Parking is free and under shade netting, so it stays cool. The rooms are very clean and the courtyard is lovely. There is a small pavilion on the first floor of the restaurant, which is perfect for watching the sun come up.

Beautiful rooms, spring water throughout, an outdoor pool and things laid on for children. A real surprise. The bedtime sweet soup is red bean, and you must have several bowls of it, the best I have had. Anyone coming to Moganshan should stay here. Next time I want to try the Japanese style private bath.

I went in to shower and could see plainly that the towels had been folded and put back with the previous guest's hair still on them. It does not bear thinking about if somebody had a skin condition. However tight the margins are, this is not where you save money, and there is no chance the bedlinen had been changed either. I put up with one night. The low score has a reason behind it.

The guesthouse was fantastic! The rooms were clean and comfortable, the courtyard was cozy, and the swimming pool provided swimming rings which the kids loved. The owners were very welcoming. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes guesthouses.

The lady's own house, very clean, and the food is healthy. She took us out to dig bamboo shoots. The views are beautiful and it was good fun.

Stayed there 2020 the first time, so we decided to come back again because the hotel was really nice. In the meantime the owner ship changed and it became a bit more like a local hotel, but still pretty pricey....

Clean and well run. There is a large open terrace, comfortable for eating and talking, and a trampoline and a swing seat that the children loved.

I stayed on the sixth and effectively had the place to myself. She is wonderful, and although I was on my own she still made breakfast, and pressed a bread roll on me for lunch as I left. Very touching. I will be telling friends. The views are excellent and she upgraded my room.

The two of us drove to Moganshan and stayed here. Fittings: complete and good. Cleanliness: tidy and clean. Setting: lovely, and you can sit in the room and look at it. Tea on the balcony with that view is wonderful. Service: attentive and warm. Breakfast is good for you and tastes good. Thank you to the cook and to the owners.

I booked a room advertised for sunrise, sunset, mountain views and night views, at over 1,900 a night. Very disappointing. All you can see is trees, which block the lot. Breakfast was poor too, essentially noodles and wonton. It is billed as Chinese and Western, and there were only three kinds of cake and pastry you could eat. The milk was not hot. I stayed two nights, paying for the second at the hotel, and asked to change rooms, which they refused. The stay was thoroughly disheartening. Thirty minutes of free photography was promised with three free photographs, and each extra one costs 80. There is also a local guide for the mountain, another trap, with charges on top, so visitors should be careful. Recommendations on the platform should be honest. This place is rated five and from me it gets four and a half at most. The room was fine and the staff were fine. The front desk left a poor impression, with nobody saying the same thing. The television is small and there are few channels. It is a fair way off its reviews. We drive and travel often, and compared with everywhere we have been, this does not meet the standard. My photographs show the window and balcony the views are supposed to be from, and the trees block them completely. I booked for sunrise and sunset and it does not meet the standard, not for that price.

Not a bad experience. Moganshan is located in an area of ​​beautiful natural scenery, surrounded by mountains and forests. Many farmhouse reviews praise the setting, praising its tranquility and beauty.

A genuinely good place. We were travelling as a family, and a hotel gives you little time together while the older ones want to sit and play cards, so we went for a guesthouse. I compared platforms wanting both a decent price and a decent setting, ended up here, and worried because there were not many reviews online. The owner got in touch before we had even arrived to sort out times and anything we needed, and when I said we needed a high chair he had one ready. It is about five hundred metres from the Yaowu scenic area, so very close, and the countryside restaurants nearby are within walking distance. He recommends breakfast places and restaurants and his advice on what to do is good. Meals need ordering a day ahead. It is very clean, and although we brought a net for the child there were no mosquitoes. The bedding has clearly been changed, but it is not hotel white, more the plain colours you would use at home, so bring your own set if that matters to you. He has two lovely daughters who help out over the summer holiday and will walk guests round the area, which is a delight.

This place looks to me like a scam. We booked on the evening of 22 November 2025 and drove there. There was no sign lit, and nobody answered the phone. The next day I rang repeatedly and still got nothing. The setting is poor and with no lights outside at night it was frightening.

This place exceeded expectations. The owner first: warm and thoughtful, and she cooked us her crayfish, along with braised fish and stir fried lettuce, every bit as good as a restaurant and tasting of home. Breakfast was careful too, congee with pickles, buns and eggs, comforting and warm. The setting is something else, a white house with a big pool, a clean and photogenic courtyard, and bright spacious rooms looking out at the hills. It suits friends and families alike and I would stay here again.

The owner is very warm and was on hand every time we went out. The towels are single use and the shower was pleasant. Quiet at night, and her family made no noise at all. In the morning she cooked spring onion noodles and free range eggs herself. Unbeatable. I will book here again.

No difference at all from the photographs, and warmer in person than in the frame. The room is clean, the owner is welcoming, and he shared the local food worth finding and the places to avoid. Very good value and I will stay here again.

We took the family room, which has character: one of the small beds is set up in a loft, which gives whoever you are with extra space and a bit of fun. Two sisters run the place around their jobs and come to help at weekends and in high season, with their parents looking after it the rest of the time. The mother cooks home food, and we ate twice and it was good. There is enough hot water for a shower, though you have to run the cold off first. We came out of season so the spring vegetables were still limited.

We had our golden retriever with us and they are good about pets. Clean too. Three of us, and it was all good. The next day I recommended it to the two families with us.

Comfortable room, and the kitchen and bathroom are easy to use. The plants on the balcony are well kept. Staying here with friends felt like home and I would come back.

I came for the Moganshan trail race and stayed here, fifteen minutes drive from the start. Big room, new fittings, and an enormous pool, so it suits a family in hot weather. The owner is a good sort and breakfast was good. Recommended.

The navigation took me to a lane with room for a few cars and no sign of the house. You walk up the slope, turn right and it is a few steps along. A sign would fix it. The owner is courteous, the rooms are clean and breakfast is good. There is a large open area in front with washing lines, and in summer things dry overnight.

There were a dozen or so of us and we took the whole place. Lovely setting, with a great stretch of bamboo behind, and we went and dug shoots, which was a joy. The rooms are very clean, the owner is a good sort and his wife cooks well. We brought our own food for the barbecue and he went to the trouble of setting the equipment up for us.

Spacious, clean rooms. The pool is the children's favourite, and there are fireflies in the evening, all very easy. The owner and the staff are excellent. Generous breakfast, and the food in their own restaurant is good too.

A good stay. The place has real atmosphere and was decorated for the new year, with plenty of corners worth photographing. The owner loves flowers, so it is a guesthouse inside a florist. The air after rain is very clean and it is a good place to breathe and clear your head. Thoroughly relaxing.

The owner has an excellent manner, breakfast is generous, and it is very quiet. He recommended several places to eat that were very good. It suits a family trip, and the bamboo opposite is beautiful.

A pearl nobody has noticed. I came with my parents and picked this out of a very crowded field at a glance. It is easy by taxi or car and the house has an underground garage. The courtyard sits inside a ring of hills and fields, with tea gardens running to the horizon and their own organic beds supplying the vegetables and fruit. The garden is quiet and a good place to unknot. The rooms are new and comfortable, the twin has tatami, the balcony has a screen to keep insects out, and there were even face cloths in the bathroom, which surprised me. The manager was sincere and thoughtful, explained the thinking behind the place and walked us round the area, and the receptionist and the housekeeper were kind too. Considerate in a lot of small ways. One night here and I felt better in body and mind. I hope more people find it.

Five stars. Quiet and full of forest, with clean comfortable rooms. The owner is welcoming and attentive to detail. I had a relaxed, easy holiday here, quiet and restorative, and getting about was simple. Worth returning to.

I would not book it. On the fittings: no television. The main light is very dim, and the room is dark to begin with in that bare timber style, so unless you are going straight to sleep it is uncomfortable. No slippers. By the next morning the wifi could not be found at all. The air conditioning remote does not work properly, and after I rang for a replacement I found there was no shampoo either and had to ring again. On the setting: it is fairly far into the hills and somewhat out of the way, and Yucun is a long way to go for dinner. Book something near Yucun instead.

On the fittings: everything is there, and the soundproofing has clearly taken real effort and thought. They have taken it as far as it goes, which shows they were thinking about the guest. I travel all over the country and sleep matters to me, and noise from outside wakes me. This place has it right. On cleanliness: clean and tidy, well organised, comfortable throughout. On the setting: nothing to add, the courtyard and the rooms are lovely and the design is good. I was here for the 2025 Kailas Moganshan trail race and it is very close to the start. The route took in the whole scenic area and it was a good day. I will come back. On service: the couple who run it look after guests beautifully, courteous and easy company. They are into sport themselves, health minded and cheerful. Go and stay with them, there are surprises in it.

The place is clean inside and out, which deserves saying. It is quiet, and there is a tea room and some exercise equipment you can use. Breakfast is generous, and the tea picking she arranged was a lovely surprise. A good choice for a trip with children.

A very satisfying stay. The point of this trip was to see the countryside here properly, and this place is at Sanqiao village, 1.5 kilometres from Gaofeng, under three from Laoling and 3.5 from Yucun. A minute from the door there is a dirt track running straight up into the bamboo, which took my breath away. Every morning the whole hill was mine alone. It is neither high nor big and a slow circuit takes fifteen minutes, and walking it quietly with the smell of earth and bamboo first thing was the best part of the trip. The position is out of the way without being cut off. Village houses surround it and walking to the neighbouring villages puts you among people going about their day. For running, a ten kilometre loop takes in the bamboo hill, the dirt tracks between the rice fields, the Laoling reservoir and the redwoods. A remarkable stay. There are dogs about, which is part of village life. They bark at anyone they do not know but they do not bite. Barking is how a dog talks. The owner is exceptionally good, warm, capable and honest.

Very satisfying. Lovely setting, very clean, and easy to reach by car. They do an excellent dinner and will also provide the space and the food for a barbecue. The owner's service is thorough and kind. I have already recommended it to friends and I will come back.

The room smells overwhelmingly of new decoration and it is hard to bear. They are resurfacing the road outside so there is a great deal of dust, and the soundproofing is beyond belief, effectively the same as leaving the door open.

Three of us over the National Day holiday, three days and two nights, and it felt like home from the moment we arrived. The whole family treat you as one of theirs. They had the air conditioning on before we got there, carried our bags up with us and talked us through what was worth seeing. Breakfast is the highlight and none of it comes ready made. The owner's parents are up early cooking it: eggs, congee with pickles, pork buns and youtiao, and the congee in particular is cooked down thick. Generous and good, with the feel of a family kitchen. The place is decorated with taste and everything is new and clean. We brought our birds and they were welcome and free to move about. A perfect trip.

Honestly there is a lot here that needs changing. The setting is ordinary and a bit dated, though passable. It is billed as a star gazing room and you cannot see a thing. The little round table in the room is genuinely tiny and rather battered, and the air conditioning unit is dirty. The bathroom has a wooden tub and no separate shower, so you stand in the tub, and there is no liner, which the owner should provide. The bathroom slippers are too dirty to look at and should be replaced. After a wash the toilet is soaked, and the seat does not sit straight. Put a door or a window in the bathroom, because with no window the ventilation is poor. A night light or a small lamp in the room would help. The service is good though, and breakfast looked clean enough.

I will book it again next time. A good stay and the owner cooks well. I only forgot to take any photographs.

Everything is there, the service is warm, it is spotlessly clean and the courtyard is clearly tended every day. I had worried at first because there were no recent reviews, and the worry was misplaced. The place was refitted in the summer of 2023. It sits in a village not far from Moganshan town, and the grounds are large with only seven rooms on them, so it is quiet. It suits a rest. A very good stay overall, and she gets in touch beforehand with suggestions for eating and for what to do, which is thoughtful.

A good house. All six rooms are tidy, and the pool in particular kept the children happy. Worth recommending.

Three days over Spring Festival, up in the hills at Moganshan. Mist in the early morning, light in the afternoon, and at night the whole mountain quiet. Walks in the hills by day, a hot spring at dusk, the steam rising and everything slowing down. The hotel is not noisy but it judges things well: the rooms have warmth, the service does not intrude, the details are all there. What really struck us was having days this slow over a holiday. We went back to the city and left our heads on the mountain.

Very clean, and she could not be more welcoming. It felt like coming home.
