A village power station in Moganshan town opens on trial as a pool garden

The name promises a sinkhole. What a reporter found was a disused village power station and kindergarten turned into a tropical garden with a pool, food, coffee and stream walking, open on trial with no published hours or prices.

A new leisure site in Fotang village (佛堂村), in Moganshan town, is open on trial. Deqing News (德清新闻网) reported on 30 September 2026 that its reporter had visited the morning before and found visitors there on a working day.

It trades as Tiankeng Mijing (天坑秘境), roughly “the hidden sinkhole”, and the name misleads. A tiankeng (天坑) is normally a karst sinkhole. This one is man made. The site was the village’s disused kindergarten and its old power station. The kindergarten is now a restaurant, and the power station has been reworked into the “sinkhole” that gives the place its name. The report does not describe it further.

The theme is Southeast Asian: tropical planting, a green pool and a water wall. Besides the garden there is stream walking (溯溪, wading up a stream bed) and printmaking. Food and coffee are served on site. The operator, Chen Mengye (陈梦烨), comes from Shaoxing and chose the town because family members already run a business there.

What is open now is the first phase, about 9 mu (亩, the Chinese land measure), a little over half a hectare. Chen told the paper that the team has also rented bamboo forest nearby from the village, for a second phase next year. That would add rafting (漂流) and bring the site to 30 mu, about 2 hectares. No date was given for it.

A trial opening (试营业) means the place is serving customers before a formal launch, and it can change its hours or close without notice. The report gives no opening hours, no prices, no booking channel, no day the trial began and no address beyond the village. It does not say whether visitors may swim in the pool. Dianping, the usual check that a place is trading, answered with a verification wall, so this item rests on the reporter’s visit alone.

Fotang is a village of Moganshan town, and the report does not say whether the site lies inside the ticketed scenic area. Ask your guesthouse host whether it is open, and what it costs, before you go. On 30 September the county put Moganshan town at medium risk from the rain and warned of flash floods in small streams, so after heavy rain, ask on site before you wade.

What this means for a visitor: There is a new place to spend a few hours in the villages of Moganshan town, but it is on trial, so check it is open and what it charges before you drive out, and ask before wading a stream after this week's rain.
