A small European style house hidden in the woods, quiet and elegant, with unusual decoration inside. There is a pool, a hot spring, a card room, a table tennis table, a sun room and swings of two sizes, and you can barbecue on the lawn. The owner is a good sort, welcoming and attentive.

An excellent position, with the Moganshan transfer centre at the door and the Yucun market ten minutes on foot, and easy parking in the courtyard. Clean tidy rooms with everything you need. The host is welcoming and thorough and took us out to dig spring bamboo shoots. Morning sun filled the house. Strongly recommended.

The host is kind and the view from the room is very good. It suits a slow holiday. He even cooked us pea rice, which was delicious. The only miss was not getting to try his free range chicken.

The environment is very good, the landlady is very enthusiastic, and she introduces everything about food, drink and entertainment. I will stay at his place next time I come.

The rooms first: the republican era villa style is distinctive and the decoration has real atmosphere. The drive in is beautiful and autumn at Moganshan is intoxicating, so this is a good time to come. The evenings turn a little cold and empty. It is a good place for a holiday and for clearing your head, and there is a fair amount to eat nearby with local character. On the whole I would recommend it.

Three days and two nights over a holiday and a very good stay. The view from the balcony is excellent, taking in the ranges and the bamboo in the distance and the fields close by. The roof terrace on the third floor catches the breeze off the trees. The ground floor hall has everything: a tea room, mahjong, pool, karaoke and an arcade machine. I also met the cat wandering about. There is a tea garden close by.

A wonderful guesthouse up in the hills, well placed and very quiet, and you can watch the sun come up from the room. The house sits in a ring of bamboo and the setting is beautiful. The lady of the house cooks exceptionally well. Worth staying several days for, and you get a sense of mountain life you will not find elsewhere.

Lovely setting and very clean, with unusual decoration. The owner is attentive, put out good fruit and snacks, and made a generous breakfast. The children were happy and I would come back.

The room is very clean, the air conditioning has no smell, the bed is the right firmness and the bedding is fresh. It is quiet around it and I slept well. There is karaoke, a children's slide and a trampoline. Two minutes on foot brings you to the stream, upriver of the Longlin weir and comparatively quiet, with deeper water for boats and swimming and shallows for catching fish and shrimp. The firefly site at Beiye is ten minutes by car, past a water park you can spend the day at. Breakfast is included, made with vegetables from their garden, eggs laid that morning and congee cooked in spring water, along with their own green rice cakes with bamboo shoot. Eating in the courtyard with the mountain air and the sound of the stream takes the working week off you. Lunch and dinner can be ordered a day ahead, which we could not try as we booked the same day. There is also the top rated Jiangzhe restaurant in Huzhou three minutes away by car. On service: we had planned to see the fireflies and after dinner no taxi would take the job, so the owner drove to the restaurant to collect us, got us discounted tickets, waited outside the whole time and drove us back. He asked about our plans for the next day, suggested places with cheaper entry, explained how to catch fish and shrimp over breakfast, and showed the children round the vegetable beds and the chickens. Thank you for looking after us. I would choose it again.

First impression on opening the door: it all works. On the host: the service is outstanding and thorough, the places they suggested photograph beautifully, and when our car broke down up the mountain they came out to rescue us the moment we called. Genuinely impressive. On the fittings: complete. On the area: there is a market and a supermarket.

Very good rooms, ringed by hills, a lovely setting, and it suits doing nothing with children. The owner's service is good and he is welcoming.

We took the whole second floor, three rooms for three families. The rooms have a card table and a bath and are large. The couple are hospitable, and the food at the restaurant they run is fresh and good. A typhoon came through and we still enjoyed ourselves. I will come again.

The couple who run it are welcoming and the place has everything: pavilions, a pool, karaoke, pool and table tennis, a card room, a barbecue and small play equipment for children, so it works for every age. It suits a work weekend, a family trip or a group of friends. It was decorated in 2019 and has been kept well, and the cleaning is thorough. I have been twice with family and recommended it to friends, and they all thought well of it.

Ideal for unwinding and for a properly slow few days. It is like your own house, comfortable and quiet, and the rooms are cleaned spotlessly. Breakfast is proper country food made by the cook herself. There is a sunset nearby too.

Two nights, very comfortable and very relaxing. The owner cooks genuinely well and the prices are a bargain, much better than the restaurants nearby, and it saves you wondering what to do about dinner. The little terrace was my wife's favourite and mine, and we sat drinking and talking on it both evenings with a breeze coming through. Best of all you can dig spring bamboo shoots on the hill right behind the house.

Clean, tidy room with everything you need. The owner is exceptionally attentive, always watching for what we needed and meeting it. Special thanks to the owner, who went out in the middle of the night to buy medicine when a friend suddenly had stomach trouble. His cooking is superb. My advice is to eat at the house.

Stayed today at Houwuji. Clean and tidy, easy parking, and the owner is welcoming and thorough. A classic family guesthouse and well suited to a family stay. There is bamboo and a stream opposite, and the water is clear to the bottom, which is good with children. Meals are available but need ordering ahead, and they are good and cheap. Recommended.

A very warm stay. The host is a lovely woman and thinks of everything. She made a generous Chinese breakfast that kept me going up the hill until the afternoon. Good, very clean room with plenty of sockets and strong hot water in the shower. There are two fine bayberry trees in the courtyard and the view from the window is excellent, so it is comfortable to stay in. As we left she gave us local food to take with us and offered to drive us into the village. Genuinely kind. I will stay again.

All right. The place we had booked cancelled on us and this had a room at the last minute, which saved us driving back into the city. A lifeline, and I was not expecting much.

We took the whole house, three floors. The ground floor is a hall with karaoke and mahjong. The first floor has four rooms, two of them large suites and well done, and the second has two more. There is parking and a charging point at the gate, and a stream where you can camp and walk up with your own kit. There is a pool too, so you can play in water without leaving. The fittings are decent overall and the second floor terrace takes washing, though the details need work. Meals are provided and she cooks them herself, and they are good. Breakfast is her own buns, congee, eggs and pickles. She is courteous and will do whatever you ask. She can get tickets for the sights more cheaply. A slightly better room rate would finish it off.

We booked the room through Ctrip, but when we arrived that evening, we were told it was already occupied. The owner said the Ctrip platform wasn't properly managed. They then moved us to another B&B that was undergoing renovations. The...

The best stay I have had. The host sent the door code and registered our plate, so we could park on the platform whenever we liked. The rooms are new. There are three bedrooms downstairs, each with its own bathroom, the main one being the largest and having a bath while the others have showers. There is no gas, but there is an induction hob and a microwave. A good stay overall, and I would book it again next time at Moganshan.

The ground is slippery in the rain and the rooms are not soundproofed, which badly affected my sleep. The drainage has problems too, which is something of a hazard. The owner should put both right.

The position is excellent, with a stream at the gate you can walk straight up. She is exceptionally welcoming and he cooks very well. We stayed two days and ate twice, and no dish was repeated. The flavours were very good. She also told us where to dig bamboo shoots, and when we came back with them she cleaned them with us and blanched them for us. We were enjoying ourselves too much to take photographs.

A very unusual three bedroom guesthouse, standing on its own between the two ranges at Moganshan. I am told this is where the foreign run guesthouses on this mountain began, and it sits between naked Castle and naked Stables. A clear stream runs past the door, which brings the cool with it along with the view, so the mountain's reputation as somewhere to escape the heat is well earned. To the point: the three bedrooms upstairs are all a good size, and the owner has clearly spent time on the design and the finish. They are tatami, so a family will fit. Downstairs is the hall and the kitchen, and though there are few rooms the hall is exactly what a guesthouse hall should be. You can cook if you want to. There are two courtyards, one at the gate, and a second behind the sitting room that I had not expected, which is probably the mountain courtyard everybody pictures. A thoroughly satisfying stay, with no other guests, and the manager on hand without arranging it. It felt like home, and the privacy is as complete as it gets. The right choice for the summer. Three rooms in one house, no crowding, no noise, and the wind off the stream coming into the courtyard. You only understand not wanting to leave once you have stayed.

Clean, an ordinary family place, simply furnished, and fine for sleeping. Breakfast from the owner was good, with eggs, corn, rice congee and the local pickled bamboo shoots, which I liked very much and so did my child. There are fireflies nearby, which was a nice touch.

Clean rooms that smell good, and plenty of them, so it suits a work weekend. There is a camp area for meetings, a fire pit and team activities. My manager was very happy with it. Remarkable value, and the food, the beds, the activities and the travel were all handled with real experience. I will book it again.

A family guesthouse run by the couple themselves. The planting in the courtyard is well kept, and they told us one of the trees was put in forty years ago when they married. A happy family. On food, the place is near Fatou town, and if you want to eat out then Fatou is a good deal easier than Moganshan town and there is no traffic.

My third visit and as good as ever. The owner is lovely and the value is high. I like the cook's food, the courtyard is large, and there is pool, a projector, a swimming pool and everything else. I like the roof terrace, where you can watch the sunset. Thank you for the coffee. I hope to be back.

She is a good sort, and it is very close to Bizu Longtan, under ten minutes by car. She can get you cheaper tickets for it. The Moganshan transfer point at Yucun is twenty to thirty minutes by car, which is reasonable. On balance it is good value, and she gave us breakfast for nothing.

This one is hidden in the bamboo at Houwu village, very quiet and entirely away from the noise. Clean tidy rooms, and the bamboo through the floor to ceiling window is restful, with comfortable bedding and a good night's sleep. The owner is welcoming and breakfast is plain home cooking. The old road is walkable from the door and the quieter spots nearby are an easy drive. At three hundred a night the value is remarkable and it suits a couple wanting somewhere to unwind. Parking is easy, and it is close to Dadouwu and Bizu Longtan. The breakfast is light and easy on the stomach. There is no commercial edge to the place. A find within budget.

I came for the trail race and booked this because it is beside the route. I arrived later than planned in heavy rain, and the metro was too loud to speak, so I messaged them to say I would be late and they replied straight away. Opening the door the next morning was lovely, and the room has a small terrace. She is very welcoming and kind, explained the buses to me and gave me fruit. Thank you.

Decent rooms, four of them facing south with good light. The bathroom cleaning needs work. Breakfast is provided. The service is good, they answer anything and sort out problems.

The rooms are extremely close to Bizu Longtan, five minutes on foot. You can pay to have breakfast made, and the congee cooked in the big pot is thick and sweet, served with fresh bamboo shoot pickles. Very good.
