Lodges around Moganshan

The owner is genuinely wonderful and very patient, sorting out anything urgent for us. The house is done in a retro style and you can barbecue, have hot pot, play board games, play pool, sing, or play mahjong. My daughter lost a few of the mahjong tiles and I was mortified, but he did not hold it against us. There is a sense that you can do whatever you feel like, which is my perfect idea of a place to grow old in. Probably the best way there is to waste time, and it washes the working week off you. I have to come back.

The room is very clean and roomy, there is a small courtyard at the gate where you can park, and another in front of the house to sit in. The pool is good and we swam. We ordered a table of food from the owner and it was very good. A thoroughly satisfying trip and I will come back. Taking the whole place would work for a group.

Terrible! Absolutely terrible! The outside environment was alright, but the inside was very poor, with many unsanitary corners and a slight odor. The service was okay. I encountered a huge cockroach, which almost scared me to death.

I wanted to see Bizu Longtan, so I booked in Xiantan village, and my friends all said I had chosen well. Lovely setting, and everyone envied us being able to stay in it. The outlook is excellent and you can see the hills from the room. The cleaning is thorough, the room is large and well laid out, and there is a pool in the courtyard, though the weather was poor so we kept the children out of it. In summer it would be wonderful. I will book here again.

Easy to reach, clean air, lovely setting, and close to the Moganshan scenic area, with plenty of restaurants in the village. The manager looks after guests attentively and carefully. It suits a team weekend or a large family gathering.

Full marks, very satisfied, good in every way. The owner is kind, the place is spotless and looks newly done, and there is a projector so you can cast a film from your phone. Parking is easy, right in the courtyard, which is generous. Three beds in the room, ideal for a family. Breakfast was ready when we came down. It is a few minutes drive from Yucun square. All round positive and I would book again.

The atmosphere is lovely and the service is thoughtful. She is exceptionally kind and sorts anything out promptly. Very good value and I would stay again.

I had stayed at Bakeshu before and booked this one for my parents and relatives. They were very happy with it. A typhoon came through and the owner moved our dates for us. I was in touch with him repeatedly and he was patient throughout. Thank you for looking after them.

Very good position. Turn right and Yucun square is five minutes on foot, turn left and the restaurant everyone talks about is three. She is courteous and the corn she grows is sweet. There is parking.

She is lovely and the service is careful, which made the stay comfortable. I broke a shower head while washing and she would not let me pay for it. An excellent stay.

A leisurely and satisfying weekend at Moganshan. Parking at the door is easy and the room was clean. We barbecued in the courtyard in the afternoon in cool air that did not feel like summer at all. We slept without the air conditioning on, which was wonderful. There is a stream at the gate where you can fish for minnows.

Well kept and decorated with some flair, backing onto bamboo, and opening the balcony gives you the far hills. Waking up to mountain air is a fine thing. The owner is lovely and drove me to the shuttle stop for the scenic area himself, and gave me a bag of local produce as I left. A very good stay.

Enormous room, clean, tidy and quiet. The position is excellent, under five minutes on foot to Yucun square in the middle of town. She is lovely.

I was here for a trail race with a half past nine start, and the owner let me sleep until half past five in the afternoon. I offered to pay for the extra half day and he said there was no need. It is close to the start, and the room was clean to the standard of a star hotel. Breakfast had real flavour. I will stay here again when I race.

Facilities: All basic facilities are available. There is a balcony where you can dry clothes. Close the balcony window at night, and then close the doors and windows of the room, which has a good sound insulation effect on roadside...

There is real wildness around it. You open the window in the morning to insects calling, and wild mushrooms come up on the grass at the door after rain. Walking down the hill there were cicadas, as though summer had not quite gone.

The room was very clean, a good deal cleaner than I had pictured. The photographs in the app are far too dark and it is actually quite bright. The bed is comfortable and parking is easy, right at the door. Very good value.

Clean and tidy, with a welcoming and thorough owner and a restful, lovely setting. The courtyard is ringed by trees, and there is a small wood behind where you can happily spend the whole day. It suits a trip with children, who loved it, and the rainbow colour scheme is a child's dream house. I will come back.

The family are welcoming. There is a stream at the door, handy for playing in the water, and their puppy is adorable. The place smells of sunshine. The towels are single use, so no worries there, and the tissues and toilet roll were all newly opened.

Very good, and it feels like your own house. The couple downstairs are kind and will do what they can with whatever you ask for, and Xiaomin, whom I never actually met, answers messages at once and is there when you need her. Photographs below.

I participated in the Moganshan cross-country race, and the starting point was at the Kaiyuan Hotel, so I found this hotel 1.1 kilometers away. The auntie who owned the hotel was very welcoming. She told us we didn't need to...

A very poor stay. We booked two nights. On the first the bathroom leaked, the toiletries fell off the shelf under the shower head and hit someone, and the room was not clean. We told the owner we would not stay the second night and were told to take it up with the platform. The platform said the owner refused. Passed back and forth. Infuriating.

The owner is warm and easy going. He upgraded us straight to a family room, spacious, comfortable, clean and tidy. Transport around Moganshan is generally lacking, especially when something is on.

There is a farmhouse inn on the roadside in Miaoqian Village. There is a stream and a trail at the door. The balcony overlooks greenery. A few hundred meters up is the ancient tree-lined road with a 2.5-kilometer hiking trail....

The air here really is better than in a city, with no pollution, and the sky is blue as far as you can see. Beautiful. You can see the stars at night. A lot of people come, and I rather like the life of the place. Once in a while it makes a very good trip.

Although the price was cheap, the experience was really bad!

Cleanliness: clean and tidy. Setting: very close to the Bizu scenic area, with a stream beside it. Beautiful.

By poor setting I mean the noise. For this price the room is fine, but there is one fatal problem: they keep a dog tied up on the hill opposite and it barks constantly. With the door shut it still sounds like it is next to your ear. The family have presumably stopped hearing it and do nothing about it, but as somebody who came here to unwind I could not stand a dog barking outside my room. I paid for the privilege of being tormented and left a few hours in, before nightfall. It is not the dog's fault, but somebody could stop it. It is tied up on a hillside with less than a metre to move in, which is pitiful. To me that is not keeping a dog, it is mistreating one. Nobody has to keep a dog.

Highly recommended. It is a good deal better than the photographs, with a little courtyard and floor to ceiling windows in the bedroom. The bed is large and soft and the place is clean and tidy. The couple who host are lovely and very warm, they played mahjong with us, gave us local specialities to try, and the noodles in the morning were excellent. Recommended without reservation.

A lovely country villa with a courtyard, exactly the style I like. Upstairs is very clean, the children loved the pool, and breakfast was good. She cooked us a whole table of country dishes as well. Parking behind the house is easy. Worth recommending.

Warmly furnished and much like a home. The hosts are hospitable.

A wonderful stay. I brought the whole family to Moganshan and chose this place carefully, mainly for the large sitting room, where we held a birthday party. She decorated it for me in advance and it looked lovely. There are plenty of rooms. There were more than twenty of us including four children and we took the whole building with room to spare. The king room on the second floor is the best, and to my surprise it has a sitting room of its own. The attic rooms on the third floor are lovely too, with several beds around two metres wide that would take three or four people. Everything you could think of is there: karaoke, pool, an arcade machine, a projector, a stove for tea, a small slide. The hot spring can be opened for a fee and they will arrange a whole roast lamb. Our only regret was going in winter, because the outdoor pool is beautiful. He also arranged group tickets for the scenic area, which was thorough. One room had small insects in it, though she caught them straight away. She is welcoming and provides whatever she can, the whole family work hard at it, and their country cooking is very good. Small problems get dealt with quickly. Recommended.
